Construction on the new Chick-fil-a at Lycoming Crossings in Muncy Township is underway.
MUNCY — Although construction at this point amounts to just earth being moved, work is progressing at the site of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant which will be located at the Lycoming Crossing Shopping Mall, 180 S. Lycoming Mall Road, Muncy.
The company has paid the tapping fee for the project, but no utilities have been connected, according to Christine Weigle, executive director of the Lycoming County Water and Sewer Authority (LCWSA).
“We’re excited about having them in our service territory,” Weigle said.
In other business at their meeting this month, the LCWSA board approved a pay application for $118,223 from Harger Utilities for the Limestone Route 44 watermain replacement project, although this is not the final payment, according to Christina Weigle, executive director.
Weigle noted that the work is being completed before the growing season ends so that restoration, which includes planting grass and restoring driveways, can be done by the contractor.
“Right now we’re estimating that the project is going to come in under budget,” she said.
“We’re excited about that. Maybe as much as $100,000 under budget,” she added.
The excess would be flipped over to the Limestone Schoolhouse Road Critical Loop Project which is also ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funded, she said.
“It’s always nice when a project comes in on time and under budget and that is the case for this one,” she said.
“We’ve made some system improvements, so we’re happy about that. Route 44 was always a problem area for that system, so we’re happy to fix it,” she added.
The final pay application is expected at next month’s meeting.
A work change directive was approved for the Riverside Drive Area Stormwater Improvement Project for Glenn O. Hawbaker to remove a large tree in the project area at a cost of $12.305.
Wegle noted that the tree is quite large and is in utility wires, both communication and power. This will be paid with ARPA funds.
The board also approved holiday hours for 2025. During the week of December 22 and 29, although the office technically will be open, people are asked to make an appointment.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 at the LCWSA office at 380 Old Cement Road, Montoursville.
