This French hotel is for champagne lovers

You have already drunk champagne at check-in. But if you’re a fan of bubbles, it’s time to put the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa, an elegant hotel in France’s historic Champagne province, on your must-see list in 2022.

The hotel closely monitors the rolling vineyards of the village of Champillon, cradle of bubbles worthy of a pilgrimage. (The hotel is approximately 1h30 from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris).

The luxury wellness destination offers more than 400 different champagnes for you to taste (and even more wines, including rare and exclusive varietals from winemakers in small batches).

With champagne in mind ahead of New Years, here’s a look inside the hotel, which hits high marks with Michelin-starred restaurants, an expansive spa and, of course, plenty of bubbles and exclusive experiences. (Think: flight over the Champagne vineyards in a private plane and horseback riding in the Montagne de Reims).

Former coaching inn where Napoleon stopped on his return from the battlefields, the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa is today a masterpiece of modern design.

The property was redesigned by Reims architect Giovanni Pace, who also designed a winemaking center in Oiry, France, for Moët et Chandon.

Look for subtle champagne nods in the hotel’s design details, like splashes of soft gold in the suites and glittering gold in the spa, as well as the thoughtful cluster of global pendants that seem inspired by effervescent bubbles.

The pool area is sleek and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing a front row seat to the rolling vineyards stretching out in front of the hotel.

The hotel’s rooms of 47 suites are equipped with Hermès bath products and a thoughtful design, like bespoke sinks made with travertine, an elegant local stone. The suites also have patios or balconies, which are the perfect place to take in views of the picturesque vineyards while sipping a glass of champagne.

Junior suites are 475 square feet. The most luxurious living room, however, is the 1,184-square-foot Josephine Suite with panoramic windows framing the Marne Valley.

Set aside a day to relax in the hotel’s 16,000 square foot spa and wellness center, which uses the French skin care lines Biologique Recherche and KOS Paris in its treatments. face and body. On the spa menu, tailor-made facials and signature massages, such as a candle massage. There is also a yoga studio, sauna, and steam room.

Guests of the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa can taste rare champagnes and grape varieties, supporting small local wine producers through the “Champagne Crafters” project. These winegrowers produce on a small scale, only 50 to 1,500 bottles per cuvée.

The hotel also has an exclusive ‘Champagne Concierge’ who can help guests taste different varieties, organize champagne getaways, arrange tours to the best champagne houses in the area that are not open to the public and organize unique adventures. . Some of the most sought-after experiences include hot-air balloon rides that offer guests bird’s-eye views of vineyard-fringed hills and cooking alongside the estate’s Michelin-starred chef Denis Rieubland while sipping champagne pairings.
