What’s in Our Shopping Writer’s Fashion Week Beauty Bag?

I keep my bag stocked with almost anything I could need for a day of schlepping to shows. But through careful editing and planning, I ensure that what I actually need isn’t a lot. By now, I have my NYFW bag down to a science.

Things like Band-Aids, Tylenol, or even sunscreen can be bought during a quick drugstore run. But my current lip combo? That’s hard to replicate in a Walgreens. So I make sure to have all of the essentials. Of all the things I’ve tested and reviewed, here’s what ends up in my bag.

There are countless photo ops during NYFW, to the point where my phone basically becomes an accessory. I like to use an Ossa wristlet because it keeps my phone from falling but looks like a bracelet. I also have an Octobuddy stuck to the back of my phone — again, you never know when there’ll be a photo op. I don’t go anywhere without a portable charger, so I keep a small and hopefully fully charged one in my bag.

Sheer with a slightly pink tint, this glossy oil keeps my lips moisturized for hours and looks good with all of my lip liners. I also have a clear lip oil from Ami Colé and a tube of Aquaphor.

This little fan has saved me many times this summer, especially when wearing a full face of makeup. No matter how much setting powder and spray I use, sweat can ruin the whole look.

Hand sanitizer is another thing I keep in multiples, just in case I forget or finish one. I like Aesop’s hand sanitizer, Noshinku’s sprays, and this little Croc case for my Touchland sanitizer. It clips onto your bag or keys so you don’t lose it, and you can swap out the Jibbitz for your own.

I swap between a few pairs of glasses; my current favorites are from Prada and Eyebuydirect, but my sunglasses are almost always the same pair from Warby Parker. Not only do these have my prescription, but they match everything I put on. They’re also durable enough to withstand being in my bag without a case. I’ve had them for years.

These tiny headphones barely have to be charged, and the sound quality is great.

At any given time, I have at least three lip liners in my bag, possibly more if I haven’t cleaned it in a while. My current favorite comes from Iconic London; I use the brown shade and blend it out with the soft end.

I love this warm, bronzy shade. Even if I don’t wear any makeup at all, I’ll do blush and brows. I dab this on my cheekbones and a tiny bit on my lips to add color, and I keep it on hand to reapply when needed.

I also love this cream formula from Versed in the shade Cozy.

I’ve had the same wallet for almost five years and it’s still in pristine condition.

A phone camera can only do so much as a mirror, so I keep an actual mirror. This setting powder from Prada works in a pinch; I can layer on as much as I want without my makeup looking cakey.
