The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet was a celebration of bold fashion statements and timeless trends reimagined. From striking red gowns and sheer ensembles to the revival of peplum silhouettes, celebrities embraced styles that turned heads while reflecting the evolving fashion landscape. Here’s a closer look at the standout trends that defined the night.
Return of the red
The red dress trend dominated the SAG Awards 2025, with standout looks from Anna Sawai, Danielle Deadwyler, and Monica Barbaro. Sawai dazzled in a strapless custom Armani Privé gown, featuring georgette embroidered with red crystals and sheer side panels, while the back contrasted in black velvet. Deadwyler took a bold, sculptural approach in a custom Louis Vuitton gown, paired with matching red heels. Barbaro embraced a red halter Christian Dior dress, completing the look with Bulgari jewelry.
Molly Shannon went for a ruched, fitted red gown with a high-low hem and off-the-shoulder neckline. Sarah Solemani combined red with the cutout trend, wearing a plunging sleeveless dress with open sides and a red clutch. Joanna Bobin blended red with sheer elegance in a lace gown, accentuated by fringe appliqué along the high-slit skirt.
Sheer style reigns
The red carpet showcased a strong sheer trend, with stars like Sasheer Zamata, Kerry Washington, and Michelle Yeoh leading the way. Zamata, hosting the red carpet, wore a metallic sheer Temperley London gown paired with a diamond tennis bracelet, while Washington presented in a pearl-encrusted custom Giorgio Armani Prive sheer dress. Yeoh stunned in an ethereal strapless floral dress from the spring 2025 couture collection, a swirl of grays, pinks, and blues.
Quinta Brunson, nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series, wore a lace and knit Christian Dior Resort 2025 dress, complete with floral Tiffany & Co. jewellery. Leighton Meester, accompanied by husband Adam Brody, wore a hand-knit Elie Saab spring 2025 dress, with a mix of lined and sheer sections. Adjoa Andoh chose an off-the-shoulder Stella McCartney dress in sheer mint fabric, featuring oversized sleeves and a floral print.
Peplum makes a stylish comeback
The peplum trend, which dominated the 2010s, made a stylish return at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards, with Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, and Elle Fanning showcasing the silhouette. Moore stunned in a custom strapless leather corset gown by Bottega Veneta, featuring a tiered pleated skirt, paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels. Madison had a fairytale moment in a custom pearl grey Louis Vuitton gown with a darted bodice and draped peplum skirt, complemented by Vuitton pumps and Tiffany & Co. diamonds.
Fanning captured the spotlight in a custom Loewe strapless gown with a satin skirt, accessorised with emerald and diamond Cartier Panthère jewels, including a matching cocktail ring, choker, and bangles.
Power dressing stole the show
Several stars embraced sharp tailoring and suit-inspired looks on the red carpet. Sheryl Lee Ralph stood out in a pleated tuxedo shirt paired with a black maxi skirt from Sergio Hudson Resort 2025. Zooey Deschanel exuded sophistication in a long-sleeve, suit-inspired gown by Giorgio Armani, completed with a bold bow at the neck. Kristen Bell began the night in an Armani Privé Spring 2025 Couture gown, but later switched to an ivory suit set for her hosting duties, with eye-catching shoulder pads on the blazer. Fran Drescher brought a modern twist to classic menswear in a double-breasted satin dusty rose blazer and matching trousers, layered with a lacy bralette instead of a shirt.
