RESPONDERS, PEDESTRIANS AND DRIVERS. ROADS SCARRED BY COUNTLESS POTHOLES SURROUND THE PITTSBURGH MILLS. THE MILLS COLLECTS A LOT OF MONEY TO MAINTAIN THAT PROPERTY. WE WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE MONEY’S AT. DISTRICT ATTORNEY STEPHEN ZAPPALA’S OFFICE CHARGING PITT GALLERIA REALTY LLC YESTERDAY WITH MAKING A PUBLIC NUISANCE. THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT ALLEGES PITT GALLERIA REALTY LLC, PARENT COMPANY NAMDAR REALTY GROUP HAS BEEN COLLECTING MONEY FROM SURROUNDING BUSINESSES FOR YEARS TO PUT TOWARD ROAD MAINTENANCE. FOR EXAMPLE, THE COMPLAINT SAYS EAT’N PARK ON PITTSBURGH MILLS BOULEVARD HAS ALLEGEDLY PAID NAMDAR REALTY GROUP MORE THAN $41,000 OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS. A SEARCH WARRANT ISSUED REQUESTING DOCUMENTATION FROM U.S. BANK TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THOSE ALLEGED PAYMENTS HAS NOT YET BEEN RETURNED. I HAVE A WARRANT OUTSTANDING FOR BANK RECORDS. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT CASH FLOW. I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS AT, AND IF THERE’S ENOUGH MONEY, THEN WE’RE GOING TO ATTACH IT AND WE’LL FIX IT OURSELVES IF WE HAVE TO. ZAPPALA SAID THE SAFETY OF FIRST RESPONDERS, DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS IS THE ROOT OF THIS CRIMINAL CHARGE. YOU KNOW, SO RIGHT NOW WE CHARGE BECAUSE WE CAN’T ACCESS THE PROPERTY. AND THE EMERGENCY GUYS REALLY HAVE PROBLEMS RESPONDING. SAY SOMEBODY HAS A HEART ATTACK OR SOMETHING. IT’S LIKE TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE, RIGHT? I MEAN, BUT THEY WERE PRETTY PASSIONATE ABOUT THAT. SO WE DID CHARGE. YESTERDAY. THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT SAYS NAMDAR REALTY GROUP RECENTLY HIRED A COMPANY TO FILL $20,000 WORTH OF POTHOLES. BUT IT ALLEGES THAT THE MATERIALS USED TO FILL THEM ARE NOT CONSIDERED PERMANENT OR SAFE SOLUTIONS.

A prospectus from real estate company Colliers described the two-story, nearly 173,000-square-foot store as having “the prime location” within the Pittsburgh Mills, the Trib stated. It’s also said to be one of the only stores at the mall that owns its own space. Macy’s previously announced plans to shutter 150 stores by Jan. 31, 2027, leaving it with 350 locations. Four of the 66 closures announced in January are in Pennsylvania, the closest being at Logan Valley Mall in Altoona. There is no indication, so far, that the company’s stores in the Mall at Robinson, Monroeville Mall, Ross Park Mall, South Hills Village and Westmoreland Mall are at immediate risk of closure, the Trib continued. As for the Macy’s at Pittsburgh Mills Mall, it will remain open for business as of now, and any sale of the property may require a one- to two-year leaseback to the company.Since the mall’s opening in 2005, more and more stores have left the shopping center. The Trib said before Macy’s placement on the market, the mall had a 75% vacancy rate. In addition to its fleeting stores, the mall’s owner came under fire following the massive number of potholes within the facility’s parking lots and roads. Mall owner Namdar Realty Group of New York was accused in April of creating a public nuisance, according to criminal charges filed by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
